Ubuntu Font, Last Update for the Weekend

Had a solid advance with the design this weekend, some more letters have been finalized (ג, ל, ת), others have better variants to choose from (צ, ש, ק).

But – I’ve got to a point where i need some more eyes to look at the design.

In version 0.7 I colored the glyphs that I’m not yet happy with their current form, or have some variants we need to choose from.
I also numbered the letters so It will be easier for non Hebrew speakers to point to a specific glyph.

    1. I prefer the top Aleph.
    19. Why aren’t you happy with this Ayin? I think it looks great.
    22. I think the bottom Tzadi fits the other glyphs best.
    23. Both Tzadi Softits look pretty much identical to me…
    24. A tough one. I think the top and bottom Kufs are too rounded and will look out of place in a large amount of text. The other two look okay, but again, I’m not sure I can tell them apart :-\
    26. I love the top Shin, but the bottom one is also nice.

I must say that I’m not a designer or anything like that, just a curious, Hebrew-speaking Ubuntu user who stumbled upon this post.

Keep up the good work and good with this font!

      Thanks 🙂

My opinion is quite close to yours, but I needed more eyes.

btw – The difference between the aleph, tzadi, etc. that are almost indistinguishable is a different hadle, based on different parts from the original font.

    Hello!

Really nice job so far, as you said you needed more eyes here are my observations:
    1. Can’t tell these apart
    22. I too think the bottom one fits and looks the best
    23. I prefer the top one
    25. I like the 3rd best
    26. Top Shin by far!

Overall the set looks very polished and very much in line with the brand. I’ll be happy to comment on any further changes.

    Good luck! =)

    Hello Tom,
I really like where this is going. Most of the glyphs are already very polished, but I think, the Kuf needs to be something else. The best ones ones in my opinion are the 2nd and 3rd. but the sharp edge doesn’t seem right. I imagine a more sharply rounded Kuf could be worth trying out.
