Just a quick update:
I got some good tips from Maxim Ioresh (Creator of the Culmus Fonts Project) and had some insights of my own regarding some of the glyphs.
I am much more confident now that the design will be completed real fast.
New Versions:
Ubuntu Hebrew Font 0.6 – PDF
Ubuntu Hebrew Font 0.6 – Adobe Illustrator

copyrights exist even if you build it yourself but is too close in design.
It is not that similar, some glyphs look a bit similar, but many sans-serif fonts are.
On the other hand other glyphs are totally different.
Besides, my font is mainly built out of copy-pastes from parts of the English glyphs of the Ubuntu font, any similarity is inherited from the English version.
